South Tyrolean Vernatsch Cup 2018

The South Tyrolean Vernatsch Cup celebrates its 15th anniversary

Fifteen years ago the South Tyrolean Vernatsch Cup was born, a competition that aims at promoting a quality Vernatsch wine. The latest 2018 edition of this Tournament has mostly awarded wines of 2017, in which three St. Magdalener stood out among the competitors. The awarding process was the same as last year’s edition: a specialized jury composed by experts of the wine sector chose the winners of “Vernatsch wine of the year” among 95 different participating wines. Ansitz Waldgries was undoubtedly the star under the spotlight, winning the prize of “Vernatsch wine of the year” in both categories and excelling even more by obtaining the tile of “Public’s favourite” wine of 2018.

Two different categories have been awarded:

Tradition: South Tyrolean Vernatsch wines present several and different characteristics according to their growing area. For this reason all wines have been tasted and rated separately by growing zone.

Innovation: all wines from previous years and unconventional Vernatsch wines
